For those of you who, like me, maintain a healthy lifestyle that you take with you outside of the gym, then this s for you. I happen to just really like peanut butter. When I was in college (which wasn't that long ago) I would always keep a jar or two in my house. It was easy to throw a PB&J sandwich together and run out of the house for class, or put it on your toast in the morning. Well, my peanut butter habits stem way beyond normalcy. I used to dip my wheat thins in it (which automatically makes my reduced fat wheat thins unhealthy) and I LOVED to spread it on Chips Ahoy and dunk my Oreos in it. Yes, I'm sick, I know.
Recently, I found this amazing natural peanut butter called PB2. It's not necessarily organic, but it's lifetimes healthier for you when compared to Jiff or Skippy. Trust me. It's a powdered peanut butter, which means it's made of ground peanuts and jarred. That's it. It's just the peanut, nothing else. Want to make it into a spread and add it to your multigrain toast? No problem! Two tablespoons of PB2 to one tablespoon of water and mix; now you've got peanut butter. Still don't believe me? Here's a comparison of PB2 to Reduced Fat Skippy. See for yourself:
Reduced Fat Skippy:
Serving Size: 2 Tbs
Calories: 180
Fat: 12g
Carbohydrates: 15g
Fiber: 2g
Sugar: 4g
Protein: 7g
PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter:
Serving Size: 2 Tbs
Calories: 45
Fat: 1.5g
Carbohydrates: 5g
Fiber: 2g
Sugar: 1g
Protein: 5g
So, for those of you, who like me, can't seem to shake your cravings for peanut butter, I suggest you invest in PB2. It's not something you can find in the organic isle of the grocery store, but you can get it online at Bellplantation.com. They also have a listing of some health food stores that carry the product, so if you punch in your zip code they'll pull the list for you. I love adding mine as the powder to my protein shakes...it gives the chocolate a little something extra, and satisfies whatever craving I might have while keeping me on track. Let me know if you try it and what you think!
